Austin Sunshine Camps - Summer Camp Activities

Each summer the Austin Sunshine Camps invite over 800 Austin area at-risk youth to enjoy a week long overnight summer camp at our Zilker Park and Lake Travis locations at absolutely no cost to the families. YMBL members are encouraged to volunteer for summers camp activities to help make the kids' camp experiences memorable.
For more information about any of the camp activities, please contact Will Goodson to let him know what activity and date you are interested in volunteering for. Non-YMBL volunteers are always welcome.

Carnival Night

Carnival Night is the first night of camp and kicks off each camp session. Volunteers are needed for face painting, working the dunking booth, and other carnival booths, as well as just passing out candy and popcorn to the kids.

Canoe Night

If you enjoy a nice evening on Town Lake canoeing or just a good old water fight then Canoe Night is for you. Many of our campers have never been on Town Lake or even in a canoe so Canoe Night is a big deal for them and it is the only time during camp they'll get to go canoeing.

Lake Travis Cook-Out

The Lake Travis Cook-Outs give you a chance to spend a nice Saturday afternoon with our campers. We cook for the kids and have some fun.
